Non-communicable Diseases workshop
The number of people suffering from Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), that is, most importantly, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer, is estimated to grow rapidly in the coming decades. If the Sustainable Development Goal 3.4 “to reduce premature mortality from NCDs by 30%” is to be reached by 2030, and countries to come to grips with the expanding costs for health care, the societal approach must be to understand that health is wealth and as a consequence put prevention high on the agenda. Innovative approaches and a mutual understanding between responsible organisations and policy-makers at a supranational and national level is a prerequisite for success.
